Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at along with different nutrient percentages, i.e. Sehore during tlie seasons of 1986-87 and 50-0, 50-50, 50-100, 100--0, 100-50 and 1987-88 to study tlle energy budgeting of 100-100%, were applied to respective crops. fertilizer management in single cropping of The 100% nutrient means N, P and K @ 20, soybean [Glycine ntax (L.) Mel~.] and 50 and 0 kglha for pigeonpen and 20, 80 and pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.)Millsp.] and 20 kglha for soybean respectively. The double cropping of soybean and chickpea rainy-season crops were planted in the last (Cicer arietinz41iz L.) system under rainfed week of June and chickpea was planted in conditions. mid-October. The soybean, pigeonpea and Tlle experimental soil was slightly saline chickpea were harvested in the first week of (pH 7.5) with available N, P and K 336, 13 October, last week of February and first and 575 kglha respectively. The experiment week of March respectively. was laid out in randomized block design The total energy consumed in different wid1 4 replications. In all, 9 treatments operations for cultivation under each comprised 3 treatments of single cropping, treatment was computed. For estimation of viz. pigeonpea with and without 100% energy input and output, the equivalent nutrients gnd soybean with 100% nutrients, coefficients were used as suggested by whereas the rest of the 6 treatments of Mittal and / Dl~awan (1988). Energy doublz cropping of soybean and chickpea intensiveness (EI) was computed as
