Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of seed rate and different weed control methods on weed growth and yield of rice (Oryza sativa) at Anbil Dharmalingarh Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tiruchirapalli, during samba (August December) season of 1995 to 1997 under direct sown conditions. The increasing seed rate from 100 to 125 kg/ha increased the grain yield, beyond which further increase was not advantageous. Among the weed control methods, application of pre emergence Oxyflourfen 0.125 kglha 1 hand weeding recorded the highest grain yield, followed by Pendimethalin at . 1.25 kg/ha 1 hand weeding.
