Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 201516 and 201617 in sandy loam soil Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to study the comparative performance of organic and conventional management practices in coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.)radish (Raphanus sativus L.) system. Conventional management practices comprising integrated use of organic amendments, nutrients through chemical fertilizers and plant protection with chemicals were compared with organic management practices which comprised of nutrient and pest management through organic amend- ments and practices. Experiment consisted of 7 treatments laid out in randomized block design. Pooled analysis revealed that, application of vermicompost equivalent to 100% recommended dose of nitrogen + IIHR microbial consortium @ 12.5 kg/ha (plant protection with organic methods) resulted in significantly higher coriander fresh green leaves yield of 9.26 t/ha and radish root yield of 36.32 t/ha. It was followed by conventional practices (rec- ommended FYM + fertilizer + plant protection with chemicals) + IIHR microbial consortium @ 12.5 kg/ha. Return per rupee invested ( 3.69) and per day return ( 1,854/ha) of the sequence were also maximum with application of vermicompost equivalent to 100% recommended dose of nitrogen + IIHR microbial consortium @ 12.5 kg/ha (plant protection with organic methods).
