A field experiment was carried out during the winter season of 2003-04 and 2004-05 at the lndian Agricul- tural Research Institute, New Delhi, to study the effect of 4 levels (0, 15, 30 and 45 kg Stha) and 2 sources (gyp- sum and cosavet) of sulphur on yield attributes, yield and quality of lndian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson]. Yield attributes, seed and straw yields, oil content and oil yield, and sulphur content and uptake in both seed and straw increased significantly with increasing level of sulphur up to highest level of 45 kg Stha. Ap- plication of 15, 30 and 45 kg Stha increased the seed yield over the control by 9, 16 and 23%; oil yield by 13, 22 and 33%; and sulphur uptake by 25, 48 and 65% respectively. Sources of sulphur did not difier significantly with regard to yield and sulphur uptake but cosavet recorded significantly higher sulphur-use efficiency and sulphur- uptake efficiency than gypsum.References
