Abstract

.:\ lield esperimcnt was conducted during 1990--91 and 1992-93 on sandy-loam soil to select a suitablc rainy-scason crop For intercropping with castor (Hionrcs commltnis I,.). The highest rncnn castor equivalent seed yield (25.10 qllia), net return (Rs 12,340ilia) and monetary advantage (Its 1.394lha) wzre obtaincd by intercropping 3 rows of early pigco~~pea [Cnjanus cajun (I,.) blillsp.] between the castor crop sown at 90 cm row spacing. However, the highest land-equivalent ratio (I ,602) \vas recorded in castor + sesame (Sesarnuni indicum I,.) intercropping system.
