Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 1996-97 and 1997-98 at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to study the response of hybrid (CORH 2) rice (Oryza sativa L.) to different plant populations (50, 33 and 25 hills/m2), seedlinglhill (single or double) and N levels (150,200 and 250 kg/ha) under lowland condition. The yield parameters were more with the population of 50 hills/m2. Planting of single seedlinglhill performed equal to that of 2 seedlingshill. Yield parameters and yield were higher with 200 and 150 kg N/ha. However, the treatment combination of 50 hills/m2 with single seedling/hill and application of 150 kg N/ha was found t economically feasible agronomic practice for rice hybrid CORH.2.
