Field experiments were conducted to improve the production potential of rice (Oryza ativa L.)-wheat (Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori & Paol.) system under different methods of crop establishment during rainy (kharif) and (rabo seasons of 1995-96 and 1996-97 at Ludhiana. The rice transplanted after puddling (M, method) gave significantly higher mean grain yield over puddling and broadcasting of sprouted seed (M,); and line sowing of sprouted seed without puddling (M,). The conventional tillage and drill sowing (T,) recorded A the highest mean grain yield, followed by minimum tillage and drill sowing (T,) . in wheat. The sowing of wheat by drill proved better than that by broadcasting.References
